about the site
This site was first online in October 2000 as a blue curvy thing. Version 2.0 was written in September 2002, and moved to the domain address of rbrignall.co.uk. This is now Version 3.2, which by default looks identical to Version 2.0 but has been extensively recoded, and some extensive reduction in archaic material has taken place.
It has always been written using NoteTab - a web-enhanced version of NotePad. It is best viewed on Mozilla Firefox, Opera 7.x or higher, and works on all modern versions of Internet Explorer (though you should really consider changing browser). with a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels or higher.
All pages meet the W3C XHTML Transitional 1.0 specification. Sections of code common to every page of the site, and the navigation bar, are included via Server-Side Includes (SSI). The page layout is table-free and design is based around a Semantic Markup system. This should, in theory, make it easily readable by text-only browsers. The aim of this site is to exceed Priority Level 1 of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 1.0.
Linked Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used for definition of all markup. All CSS used passes the W3C CSS 1.0 specifications. A JavaScript file is used to allow moving between the default and alternate Style Sheets, which may be done easily using the links on the Navigation Bar. The third style sheet is a large font version, which I hope people with visual impairments will find useful -- let me know how it can be improved.
The Style Sheets were written specifically for this site: if you wish to copy it, then please email me to request permission.
All text and design on this site is my own, and is ©copyright Robert LF Brignall, 2000 - 2006.
If you like what you see here, you may be interested in having a website written by me.
I am always open to constructive criticism, and any ideas you have that may make this site better in any way. Please contact me.
