web design
Good design is essential in promoting your web pages, either personal or for a business. I write functional web pages that look good and convey all your information to the reader in the most efficient way possible - maximising readability, but including everything that needs to be said.
  • Pages are written specifically for your needs - not using some pre-made standard design. Every design I do is unique to a single website.
  • The design process is interactive - I will listen to your ideas and suggestions, and edit the design accordingly.
  • All pages are proof-read and tested for functionality with the most common browsers. All HTML/XHTML and CSS code is W3C tested.
  • The final price is based on an initial quote (never more than ±20% out), which is in turn based on the predicted time spent working on the site, at a rate of £20.00 / hour - considerably less than other professional designers.
  • Quotes for a Web Design are given FREE, based on the site complexity and number of pages, with no obligation to buy. Quotes given in Pounds Sterling unless requested otherwise.
  • Examples of my designs: this web site (current since April 2005)
    Will Dawes (February 2007)
    Catherine Backhouse (October 2006)
    Edinburgh Camerata (May 2006)
St Andrews University Madrigal Group (March 2005)
    Christ's College Choir (April 2001).
I have experience in writing pages using HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0, CSS (Style Sheets), SSI, JavaScript, Java (both programming and use of Applets), PerlScript, PHP, MySql and Visual Basic, so can tender for almost every need, though I have particular experience is writing pages for musicians, music groups and societies. I have training in accesibility awareness and aim to exceed Priority Level 1 of the WCAG 1.0 Guidelines for all websites.
Pages are written 'raw' using NoteTab - a web-enhanced version of NotePad.

Quotes

Previously I had a quotes form here for you to fill out to receive a FREE web-design quote. I've decided this isn't the best idea, and, seeing as web design is a complex business, it can't really be restricted to a series of checkboxes. Hence please complete the contact form, giving as full details as you can.
