trip report - 1st February 1997

Date:1st February 1997
Mountains:Tom Buidhe (957m), Tolmount (958m), Cairn Bannoch (1012m), Broad Cairn (998m)
Group:Edinburgh Academy Blair House Senior Meet
Conditions:Cloud above ca. 600m, fresh snowfall above ca. 600m
The first day of the weekend at the Academy's outdoor centre in Glen Clova. We awoke to heavy looking clouds, and evidence of fresh snow on the hills. The route began (as always), up Jock's Road to the end of Glen Doll, acheiving the plateau on which most of the munros to be climbed lie.

The day was uneventful except for being quite cold and permanently in the cloud, and occasional light snow showers. Descent off Broad Cairn was down the path to Bachnagairn, and back through the glen via Moulzie to Blair House, by which time it was pretty much dark.

Day 2 (2nd February), was spent climbing the 2 corbetts above Loch Brandy (partially frozen) in glorious sunshine - by far the better of the two days!
