trip report - 8th February 1998
| Date: | 8th February 1998 |
| Mountains: | Dreish (947m) |
| Group: | Edinburgh Academy Blair House Senior Meet |
| Conditions: | Overcast, mild. |
It is more common to climb Dreish and Mayar in the same day (it certainly isn't a long day doing both), but as we had to leave in the afternoon we only had the morning to fill.
From Blair House (near Acharn), we headed down Glen Clova to Braedownie, and crossed the river using one of the handy bridges over it (the southern one of the two). Ascent began immediately up into the Corrie of Farchal, up to the low col and right onto the long wide summit "ridge".
Descent on this occasion was straight down the Scorrie - there is a style in the deer fence to regain Glendoll forest, but this time some of us kept to the right of it all the way back to Acharn. The gain in time using this tactic is countered by the necessity to cross the river afterwards. I didn't mind much, given the Blair House is 100 yards from the stream, and there would be plenty of time to dry out the boots later.
